18 – 12 months before opening
Become familiar with brand concept. Visit store and website, try product.
12 months before opening
Inquire about franchise opportunities. Schedule conversation(s) with Shirley’s Gourmet Popcorn Company co-founder & CEO Pete Suter.
12 – 9 months before opening
Complete Confidential Information Request Form and submit accompanying paperwork.
9 – 6 months before opening
Evaluate Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). Begin to research possible franchise sites.
6 months before opening
Sign franchise agreement. Identify location, evaluate construction bids, and sign lease.
3 months before opening
Begin to develop business relationships with schools, organizations, and Chamber of Commerce members. Visit Shirley’s flagship store and home office for 2-week orientation and training.
1 month before opening
Hire associates, plan and advertise grand opening. Secure final permits and licenses. With assistance of Shirley’s corporate team, begin training and operations on location.
